Elimination Blackjack at UB
Elimination Blackjack is an exciting twist on blackjack where you not only play against the dealer but also against the other blackjack players at the table.
When playing Elimination Blackjack at UB.com you are trying to accumulate the most chips at the end of 30 hands. However, there are also elimination hands where the player with the least amount of chips after hands 8, 16 and 25 is eliminated.
UB adds yet another twist to Elimination Blackjack with the use of a “Secret Bet”. Each player is allowed one Secret Bet per round. The Secret Bet allows you to place a bet without letting the other players know what your bet is. The effect of this Secret Bet is that it leads to quite a bit of bluffing and adds to the excitement of Elimination Blackjack games played at UB.
Here is a rundown of how Elimination Blackjack games at UB are played:
You start out with $25,000 in tournament chips. The minimum bet that you can make is $500 and the max bet is $25,000.
At the final table, you’ll start with $100,000 in tournament chips. The minimum bet that you can make is $1,000 and the max bet is $25,000.
The Elimination Blackjack games at UB features a marker that rotates clockwise. The action starts “on the button” – the player with the marker. The marker rotates clockwise every hand. When it is your turn you will have 15 seconds to make a decision. If it is an elimination hand then you have 30 seconds to make a decision.
At the end of any hand a player must have at least the same amount of chips as the minimum bet. If the player has fewer chips then the minimum bet you will be eliminated. For example if the minimum bet is $500 and you only have $200 in chips then you will be eliminated.
The general rules of casino blackjack are used when playing elimination blackjack.
Each player will be dealt two cards face up while the dealer will receive one card face up and one card face down.
If you elect to double down or if you split a pair of aces the cards will be dealt face down. Any other pair that you split other than Aces will be dealt face up.
If the dealer has a soft 17 or less he must hit. If he has a hard 17 or greater he must stand.
You are able to split and re-split up to four hands, except for aces. You can only split Aces once and you will receive only one additional card which will be dealt face down.
You can double down on any two cards that you are initially dealt and this includes after you split a pair.
Late surrender and insurance are also available options when playing elimination blackjack at UB. Insurance pays 2 to 1 and you can bet up to half of your original bet.
A blackjack will be paid three to two except if the dealer has a blackjack which will be considered to be a push. If you split aces or tens and get a two card 21 it will not be considered blackjack.
On an elimination hand (hands 8, 16, and 25) if two or more players are tied for the lowest chip total a playoff is held to see which player is eliminated.
As mentioned previously, each player has one Secret Bet that can be used at any time. The secret bet allows you to place your bet in total secrecy – the other players at the table won’t be able to see your bet. When you use your secret bet for the betting part of a hand you can also secretly select insurance and double down bets from the Secret Bet menu. The secret bet will only be revealed after the dealer completes the payouts.
If you want to split your cards on a secret bet you need to have at least the same amount of chips in your initial secret bet. If you don’t have enough to chips to split, you won’t be given the option.
You can also select to double down on a secret bet from the secret bet menu. You can double for the table minimum up to the full amount of your original bet.
When on a secret bet, you can hide not taking any hit cards as being either a stand or surrender by selecting this option on the Secret Bet menu.
As you can see playing elimination blackjack is easy – it’s just blackjack against the dealer and the other players at the table which adds an extra element of strategy to the game. Then add in the secret bet and all its options and you have even more strategy that you can use to make sure that you are the player with the most chips at the end of the game.
